Biobank sustainability is a hot topic for many around the world and biobanks are increasingly being asked to justify their existence and provide evidence of impact. There is a lack of data to help biobanks benchmark and, because of the variety in operating models, it is often difficult to provide direct comparison. Without the ability to compare like with like, biobanks are in danger of being unfavourably compared to others even when non similar.
I would like to try to gather some data, (anonymously) via the following survey, to be able to provide a snapshot benchmark that can be used to place a biobanks’ operation in context. To account for the different models, there are quite a few questions in the survey (35) to stratify the responses and allow more nuanced groupings. It is not mandatory to answer all the questions but the more complete the responses the more comprehensive the outcome will be. You don’t have to complete it all in one go, you can save your progress and come back to it later.
The survey is designed for those biobanks collecting samples and/or data from human participants. It will be open until 14th October 2022.
