The Swedish Research Council-funded research infrastructure Biobank Sweden supports
healthcare providers and universities with medical faculties working towards national
harmonisation in biobanking.
A series consisting of several researcher portraits was published on Biobank Sweden’s
website during 2020. The profiles contextualize Swedish biobank research and emphasize
aspects such as societal issues, how patients can benefit from and get involved in research,
and advances in personalized treatment. In connection with the Europe Biobank Week
conference in November 2020, eight researcher portraits were translated into English and
can be found here. https://biobanksverige.se/english/research/.
Additionally, a 4-minute information film was made available, addressing the importance of biobanks for future scientific research, from the perspective of Göran Bergström, head of the SCAPIS project.
The film can be found here.
