Swiss Biobanking Platform (SBP) is an independent association initiated by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) in 2016.
SBP is the national coordination platform for human and non-human biobanks which supports biomedical and biological research to address questions around quality, access, transparency and the interconnectedness of biobanks and their related data.
SBP has produced successful results working closely with the European network BBMRI-ERIC, as well as with the other national research infrastructures for data (SPHN) and clinical research (SCTO).
In addition to the proposed tools, which have been created based on four strategic pillars (quality, visibility, interoperability, education), SBP is diversifying its activities to develop and adapt its portfolio of services for non-human biobanks, with a focus on veterinary medicine and microbiology.
SBP’s aim is also to be recognised as a key partner by the research community as it is not directly involved in projects, but rather provides services to support research.
