Two new ELSI genomic research relevant publications released

The BBMRI-ERIC ELSI team are delighted to share two new genomic research relevant publications:

Published in BioSocieties, ‘Post-identifiability in changing sociotechnological genomic data environments‘ explores the meaning of privacy in an increasingly datafied research environment in which the authors analysed genomic identifiability as a systematic data issue and argue that a new conceptualisation is needed.

This publication was driven by BBMRI-ERIC in collaboration with experts from the National Nodes from BBMRI.lv, BBMRI.gr and the Plateforme GenoToul Societal “Ethique et Biosciences”.

‘A practical checklist for return of results from genomic research in the European context‘ presents a checklist that provides a clear outline of the steps European researchers can follow to develop ethical and sustainable result return pathways within their own research projects.

It is published in the European Journal of Human Genetics by an international group of ELSI experts and addresses the practical needs that an increasing number of European research projects face when they (plan to) return individual genomic research results (IRR) to research participants.

For BBMRI, both publications are the results of Work Programme related ELSI activities, enabling the translation of expertise knowledge into practical guidance for the wider biobanking community.
