The Swedish Research Council-funded research infrastructure Biobank Sweden supports healthcare providers and universities with medical faculties working towards national harmonisation in biobanking. Additional funding was granted in 2020 to secure more Covid-19 samples for research. These samples are among those made available in a national database launched in February, with the objective of enabling scientists to find samples related to the virus. The Sample Collection Database was developed by the SciLifeLab Data Centre in collaboration with Biobank Sweden, and is provided through the Swedish COVID-19 Data Portal, operated by the SciLifeLab Data Centre and the Swedish Research Council.
