Strategic Expansion for Biobank Sweden

The Swedish Research Council-funded research infrastructure Biobank Sweden supports healthcare providers and universities with medical faculties working towards national harmonisation in biobanking.

As reported in 2018 Elisabeth Norén (Region Jönköping County) was appointed coordinator for biobank strategy by Biobank Sweden’s National Steering Committee, in accordance with the infrastructure’s strategic goals. The activities during the past two years have been an important learning experience regarding national strategic needs, and Elisabeth Norén has now been joined by Hanna Fransson (Region Mid Sweden), who will contribute her significant experience and expertise regarding tissue. The coordinators will cooperate, working together to strengthen and expand the existing national biobank strategy resource.
