Biobank Sweden Appoints National IT and Operations Group

The Swedish Research Council-funded research infrastructure Biobank Sweden supports healthcare providers and universities with medical faculties working towards national harmonisation in biobanking. As a step towards the implementation of a national IT strategy for biobanking, a national project manager and an IT and operations group have been appointed.

The group consists of twelve representatives from Biobank Sweden’s partner healthcare regions and universities, and have significant IT-related and operational experience. Their activities will be structured in consultation with project manager and systems developer Christian Bruzelius of Uppsala Biobank.

The work of the IT and operations group will include performing a needs assessment, developing a national IT strategy plan with risk/consequence and time/cost assessments, as well as carrying out a prioritisation evaluation.
