The digital International Symposium on Sustainability of Biobanks takes place August 24th – 26th, 2020 from 13:00 – 16:45 CET. We are delighted that so many excellent speakers and panellists have confirmed their participation, thus contributing to an exciting and interactive program with talks, elevator pitches and extended podium discussions.
The first afternoon will focus on Biobanks in Routine Healthcare empower Precision Medicine with representatives from – among others – the EU Patient Forum, the German Breast Cancer Network, the Central Research Institute of Ambulatory Health care in Germany, the German Association of Private Health Insurers in Germany, and the newly appointed Chief Executive Director of the Berlin Institute of Health. The second part will continue with Ethics, GDPR, Patient Empowerment and their role for Sustainability with international renowned speakers and panellists representing the Ethics Board of the University of Würzburg, the Italian National Research Council, and Kairos GmbH.
The second afternoon will start with Quality Measures and Certification as basis for Sustainability with speakers across the different types of biobanking and panellists from the Swiss Accreditation Service SAS, Cerba Research, the Standards Council of Canada, the German Biobank Node/German Biobank Alliance auditing program, and IT specialist from the University of Lodz. The second day will conclude with Innovative Concepts and Novel Ideas for Sustainability with topics related to exposure sciences, networks and collaborations, stakeholder perspectives as well as food security including clonal crops and cellular agriculture biobanking. Panellists represent the German Biobank Node, Bruker BioSpin, and the Clinical Research Center of the Antwerp University Hospital.
The third afternoon focuses on Financial and Business Models for Sustainability with speakers from academia and industry and panellists representing Medservice consulting, the Clinical Chemistry Department of the University Hospital Bern, the Tissue-, Cell- and Biobank of the Antwerp University Hospital, the Central Biobank UMG of the University Medicine Göttingen, and the German Biobank Node/German Biobank Alliance education programme. The symposium will end with a concluding session around 15:15 CET.
